Did you know? If you can hear your dog's nails clicking on the floor, they are way too long!

On the left is the anatomy of a dog with properly trimmed nails that do not touch the floor when standing. You will not hear this dog clicking on the floor when he walks.

On the right is the anatomy of a dog whose nails have been neglected. The nails have grown too long and you can hear him clicking on the floor when he walks. Because everything in the body is connected, this dog is in pain just from walking. Everything in his body is out of alignment, starting with his paws. His paws are flattened, his weight is shifted back, and his paw pads cannot make proper contact with the ground. The nails dig into the nail beds with every step. He is at high risk of breaking or splitting nails, causing even more excruciating pain.

Most pets need to have their nails trimmed at least once or twice a month to maintain an appropriate length.
